On our site you will find information to assist you not only with your loved ones but also for the loss of your pet. You will find phrases, quotes and sayings that you can share.  There are many other things that you can do to help your loved ones through this hard time.  During this time, families are often torn with trying to grieve and deal with their normal lives. Sometimes they need help but don’t want to ask for it. There are things you can do to help them get through this tough time.  Below you will find some examples of thoughtful gestures.

The traditional thing most people do is bring homemade meals so the family does not have to think about cooking. This is sometimes over done by so many well wishers but is a very nice gesture.  Flowers are always a way to show someone that you are thinking about them. They are colorful and cheerful and may just brighten their day a little.

Other ways of helping out may include:
Caring for their young children who may not understand what is going on to give the parents some time to themselves.
Cleaning their house or doing daily chores. This may be as simple as picking up the dry cleaning.
Taking care of their animals. Walking their dog.

Cooking dinner for them while they are making funeral arrangements.

Offer to help with funeral arrangements.

Preparing a bunch of meals that could be frozen for the grieving family.

Bring over a gift basket full of fruits for quick snacks

If they have to leave town, offer to look after their house and/or pets

Offer to drive them around when they are making the funeral arrangements

Be a shoulder to cry on.

Small gestures go a long way but each situation is very different. Just don’t be afraid to help out if you feel it is needed. I’m sure it will be greatly appreciated.  When people are going through grief, they don't always realize what they need.  So don't be afraid to just be there for them, even if they don't seem to want you there.  When time has passed and their mind has cleared, they will remember you're thoughtfulness and appreciate it.

A note from the author of this site:

This past week I found myself attending two funerals in 4 days.  One was due to a friends sudden loss of his father and another was due to a family members loss of her father who had been sick for quite some time.  Either way, I found it quite hard.  But what I really noticed was difficult was what to write when it came to the sympathy card.  I don't attend too many funerals (thankfully) and it had been quite some time since I had to write a condolence message to the family.  I sat there feeling unsure with my pen in my hand and the card in front of me.  It was then I realized why these sites are so important to people.  I have written and read so many different condolence phrases, verses, poems, quotes, etc over the years, and when it came time to using that knowledge, my emotions left me blank.  This is my primary reason for publishing this website, to assist those who's emotions have left them not knowing what to say.  We truly hope this site is a helpful resource to anyone needing to be a comfort to another.  ~
